INFORMATION ITEMS

Item 1

Kyle LaMalfa represents the SLC Peoples Market which last year was conducted at the Northwest Multipurpose Center. This year it will be at Jordan Park from June 10 thru October 21 during the hours of 10 am to 3 pm. There will be a charge of $10 for home gardeners and professional food vendors. Other charges range from $15 to $25.

I have not encouraged our participation in this activity even though I was invited to be in on the ground floor of the planning. My main objection was that it would only be held on Sundays which automatically cuts off all anti-Sunday shoppers. But the organizers washed away my objections without any consideration. The idea has good merit.

Item 2

The City has republished the Good Neighbor’s Partnership Resource Guide. I have a number of copies should any of you want them and can get more. For new members of the community, this is a guide covering a number of topics ranging from Senior Center, Public Transit, Schools, Youth Programs. Neighborhood Watch, Cultural Awareness, Housing/Zoning Enforcement, Yard Landscaping and Maintenance, Parking, and Health.

The publication is written so that the left side of every page is written in English and the left hand side is in Spanish. The whole document is cut and assembled so that the smallest page is at the top and the longest one is on the bottom. They are free and available for you to hand out.

Item 3

If your home has suffered recent damage from the blasting at Staker please keep us informed. It would be of most value if you could document it with written information and/or pictures. Carlton Christensen is working on this but you must provide some proof that it occurred as a result of a specific blast on a specific day and time.

Item 4

The crime report for last month showed that there were 5 assaults, 7 burglaries, 2 car prowls, 4 car strips, 13 car thefts, 4 gang-related crimes, 0 sexual assault, 2 robberies, and 0 weapons drive-by shootings. Please remember to keep your doors locked at all times. Also as you speak about Rose Park, remember that we are in the lowest third in crime rate.
