Item 3 Crime Report
Each month the Salt Lake City Police Department prepares a report of criminal activity for each Community Council area. Statistics show that crime is lowered in part, due to good citizens keeping a watchful eye on our homes and streets and reporting concerns to our SLC Police officers in a timely way. The full crime report may be viewed by going to www.slcpd.com then click on Crime Maps and Statistics and choosing Community Council Report. Keep an eye on your neighborhood! Get involved! Stay involved!
Item 4 NeighborWorks Salt Lake helping residents with Foreclosures
To help maintain their focus of keeping people in their homes and combating the increased foreclosures, NWSL offers pre-foreclosure counseling to residents, at no cost. NWSL’s counselor works with you and your mortgage servicer to discuss workout options available, and help you prepare a workout agreement application packet. If you or someone you know is behind on payments and facing foreclosure, contact NeighborWorks® Salt Lake at (801) 539-1590 or their website at www.nwsaltlake.org, to discuss options that may be available to you. Hablamos Espanol.
Item 5 Emergency Notification
Email and text messaging may be the fastest way to alert you of danger. As a resident of Salt Lake City you may be rapidly notified of emergencies that may impact you or your family if you choose to logon to SLC Alert to let the city know how to reach you. www.slcalert.com or 2-1-1
Item 6 CERT
Salt Lake City is interested in finding representatives throughout the City interested in participating in the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) efforts. The CERT program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area, and train them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT is a fantastic way to be involved and helpful in your community. You can sigh up for CERT training courses http://apps.slcgov.com/general/absolutefp/CERTForm.htm
Contact John Flynt at 801-799-3604 if you would like to know more about the program or visit their website http://www.slcgov.com/departments/emergency_man/
Item 7 Snow Removal
Now that winter weather has arrived, please remember to look out for your neighbors and help clear snow if you are able. Salt Lake City’s newly adopted snow removal ordinance requires snow, hail, and sleet to be removed from City sidewalks within 24 hours of a storm’s ending. There are many in our community who could use assistance in clearing their walks.
